With two rounds still remaining in the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Chad Reed’s victory at Budds Creek gave him enough points to claim the title.
Heading into the outdoor series, it looked as if Reed wasn’t even going to compete. After spending some time in his native Australia, Chad returned to the states just before the season opener at Glen Helen. Reed went on to dominate the series, winning five rounds and clinching the title with two races left.
Having already won two AMA Supercross Championships, this marks the first outdoor Motocross title for the Rockstar/Makita Suzuki rider.
