Windham again in the rain and snow in Salt Lake City!
Kevin Windham is probably the only guy in the series wishing that it would rain in Las Vegas next weekend. He is also probably wishing that the 2010 series was at the half way point instead of at the very end because he is on a roll. Two weeks ago in St. Louis Kevin proved that he could ride very fast on the super soft and rutted course and finished second to Ryan Dungey. Last week in Seattle the track was one of the most difficult in history with extremely rutted sections that Windham seemed to glide over as he claimed the win. This week in Salt Lake City in a race that saw snow and rain throughout the main event Kevin once again proved that he was up to the task and claimed an easy win.
Salt Lake City was an all red podium in the 450 class as Honda riders claimed the top three spots. Windham won followed by Team Red Bull Honda riders Davi Millsaps and Andrew Short. ONE Industries team rider Tommy Hahn rode great but found himself on the ground in the muddy conditions costing himself another possible podium position. Tommy had a great pace going before falling and restarting in the 18th position. Hahn put his head down and was able to charge back to a solid 8th place finish.
Josh Hansen showed the speed and tenacity that Mitch Payton’s Monster Energy / Pro Circuit team knew that he possessed on his way to winning the 250 class. Josh was joined by Geico Powersports team rider Trey Canard and Lucas Oil’s Wil Hahn on the Salt Lake City podium. Wil Hahn battled for the lead early but dropped off the pace allowing Hansen to get away for the win. Hahn was battling a shoulder injury from a practice crash on Thursday. ONE Industries team rider Ryan Morais rode solid all evening and claimed 4th place for his efforts.
The final round of the 2010 Supercross series is next weekend in Las Vegas. The Supercross championships have been awarded but the “Top Privateer” championship is still yet to be determined. ONE Industries Team riders Ivan Tedesco and Tommy Hahn are in a battle for the privateer award. Ivan’s injury in St. Louis has opened up the door for Tommy Hahn to claim the title. Tommy’s 2nd place finish last weekend in Seattle really helped his cause but an 8th place in Salt Lake City still leaves him leaves him 9 points behind. Tommy just needs to finish in the top 11 positions in Las Vegas to overtake Tedesco and claim the top privateer award.
