Pit Pass - San Diego

Justin Brayton - The day didn't start of the way Justin had hoped for, he had a scary crash in the final practice session in which it was thought he had suffered a broken leg. It was great news to here soon after that the leg was not broken just a bit of soft tissue bruising and a mild concussion. At that point Justin did not feel he could ride, but as a little more time passed he could put a little bit of pressure on his bad leg and made the decision to try and race.(ONE tough dude!)  He was 8th fastest in the practice before the crash so that put him in the 2nd 450 heat race. There he didn't get the start he wanted but made some passes early in the race and ended up with a 5th place for his efforts. The main started off with Justin getting mid pack start, so he had his work cut out for him again, but he put his head down and started making passes right away and ended the night with a 6th place in the main for his efforts. Justin was also awarded with the Racer X Outstanding Performance award and the Bret Michaels Ride Hard award also.

Rockstar Suzuki - Another up and down weekend for Jason Anderson and Martin Davalos here in SD.  Practice was great for both riders feeling good about the track and Jason Anderson wearing our new ONE Vapor pant(which he loves) Davalos finished practice with the 3rd fastest time with Anderson right behind him in 4th. Anderson was in the first heat race and got caught up in the first turn coming out in about 17th place. But Jason was making moves early and finished the heat in 4th.  Davalos was in the 2nd heat and had a great start and was out front early in the race before going down and ending up 9th in the heat.  The main was not great for either rider with both of them getting mid pack starts. Both riders were pushing hard to get toward the front of the pack but had a couple of small crashes each which left them both with finishes they both would like to forget.  Davalos with 15th and Anderson with 17th.

Monster Energy Kawasaki - Ryan Villopoto had another great weekend in SD. It started with him battling with Stewart in practice for the top spot and both riders pushing into the 46 second time and RV ending practice with the 2nd fastest time of the day. Jake Weimer was 5th fastest in practice. Both riders ended up being in the 1st heat with RV taking the win and Weimer had a small crash putting him back to 13th and sent him to the LCQ which he won to get into the main. The main started great for RV and Weimer with RV getting the lead early and staying there until lap 18 then lap riders let Reed catch up with him and get the lead for about half a lap before RV took the lead back and got the win. Making it his 3rd win of the season.  Weimer had a good start in the main up front early but a small slip up in a corner put him on the ground with him rebounding to finish 20th.

Geico Honda Powersports - This was not the weekend the team had hoped for, going into it they had the points lead with Eli Tomac in the lites class. But a crash in the main set him back to 20th for the night and put him in 2nd in points. Kevin Windham was having a good day finishing practice with the 9th best time, then 5th in his heat race. The main was going good with him inside the top 10 for most of the race, but then he had a small mistake in the whoops on the final lap landing him in 16th overall. Gavin Faith finished out his last ride as a fill in rider for Geico with a 6th place in his heat and a solid 6th in the main event.

Yoshimura Suzuki - Bret Metcalfe has been improving every week and this week was no different with a 3rd place finish in his heat race that gave him a great gate pick for the main. In the main Metcalfe got off to an ok start in the top 10 and worked his way up to 4th in the end for his best finish so far this year. Look for Bret to keep the momentum gooing.

Billy Laninovich - Billy has been improving weekly as this season gets going and this weekend has been the best one for Lano so far.  Practice was good for Billy with him ending up with the 10th best time in the lites class. That put him in a good spot for his heat race where he didn't get the start he was hoping for and had to work his way thru the pack for a 4th place finish.  In the main he again didn't get the start he needed but battled and made passes early for his best finish of the year in 7th. Great ride Billy!

Bruce Rutherford - Bruce had another great night and making another main. He was 5th in his heat and ended the night with a 12th in the main.  Keep up the good work Bruce!
